A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Josh, a Building Biologist, husband and father.

I was born and raised in a small town in Northcentral Wisconsin and now live in central Wisconsin with my wife and teenage son. Like many people in the healthy living space, my journey into this work was deeply personal. For years, my family and I struggled with mysterious health issues. We eventually discovered the root of it all: we were living in a mold-contaminated home. My wife was hit the hardest, and her road to recovery is still ongoing.

That experience opened our eyes. It also lit a fire in me, not just to understand what had happened to us, but to help others avoid or recover from similar situations. That’s when I discovered the Building Biology Institute (BBI). Their depth of knowledge and focus on how buildings truly affect human health blew me away. I had already spent years working as an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) professional, trained in topics like industrial hygiene, so I thought I had a good grasp on things like EMFs and air quality. But BBI helped me see what I had missed — and what most people are never taught.

I realized I had blindly trusted the mainstream narrative about the safety of our everyday technology. That realization shook me, and it sparked a hunger to learn more, question more, and do better. In 2021, I completed my training as a Building Biologist and Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist, and I’ve continued to work as a Certified EHS professional ever since.

Now, I help people understand the invisible hazards in their homes, things like mold, EMFs, poor air quality, and other environmental stressors and guide them toward practical, science-backed solutions.

I genuinely love this work. Not just the technical side (although, yes, my son loves to tease me for reading what he calls "another moldy book"), but the personal side, listening, understanding, and helping people feel better in the place that should be their safest haven: their home; their Inner Sanctum.

I’m also incredibly grateful for my wife, who’s been my biggest supporter throughout this journey. She doesn’t need convincing when it comes to creating a healthy home. She’s lived through the consequences and shares the passion behind what I do.

If you're feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to begin, I get it. I’ve been there. But there is a path forward, and I’d be honored to walk it with you.
